TABA IS SMALL PARADISE

Taba, a Egyptian town and the last points of the Egyptian construction on the Gulf of Aqaba, which is of strategic importance and tourism.
Location and Area Taba is located at the head of the Gulf of Aqaba between the mountains and the hills east of Taba on the one hand, and the Gulf of Aqaba, on the other hand. And away from the city of Sharm el-Sheikh about 240 km south of Taba, and its neighboring city of Eilat. Represents the area between Taba and Sharm el-Sheikh north south major attractions and tourism development in South Sinai Peninsula.

Taba History

Island of the Pharaoh (Geziret Faraum)

After a short ferry ride from Taba’s coast, you’ll reach the Island of the Pharaoh, also known as the Coral Island, a small granite atoll surrounded by coral reefs and amazing dive sites. The island is also known for its citadel, originally built by crusaders and later conquered and reconstructed by Saladin. The citadel is listed today as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The diving sites surrounding the island include the Picasso Reef; an underwater mountain that leads down 24 metres to huge table corals. At a depth of 12 metres, you’ll find yourself surrounded by a wide variety of colourful fish, including the famous “Picasso Trigger Fish.”


Salah El-Din Fortress On Pharaoh Island, Taba
After a short ferry ride from Taba’s coast, you’ll reach the Island of the Pharaoh, a small granite atoll surrounded by coral reefs and dominated by the magnificent Saladin fortress, built by Crusaders in the 12th century and recently restored by the Council of Egyptian Antiquities.
Salah El-Din based his soldiers on this strategic island in order to control the trade of products coming from Asia and demand ransoms from pilgrims on their way to Mecca. A truly strategic spot: you’ll be stunned by the fortress’s panoramic view, a landscape merging between the coasts of Saudi Arabia and Jordan.


Castle Zaman

The Fjord
Located just 15 km south of Taba, the Fjord is a spectaculardiving spot housed by a stunningly beautiful and protected bay with dazzling coral reefs and unforgettable scenery. If you’re an experienced diver, you’ll be tempted by the “Fjord hole”: a site you will reach after following a huge coral bed at 16 m of depth, you’ll find a huge hole that goes down to a depth of 24 m. After entering the hole, you’ll witness an amazing marine life scene: fish from the open sea coming to feed on plenty of tiny Glass Fish and Silver Fish.
The “Fjord Banana” is an alternative for the less experienced divers: a shallow reef in the shape of a banana, reaching a maximal depth of 12 m, and housing a wide variety of fish and corals.


TABA PROTECTED AREA
Taba Protected Area is the northernmost protected area in South Sinai with desert landscapes, steep-walled wadis and high mountains. It is one of the most untouched areas in South Sinai and includes critical environments such as freshwater springs. Nawamis, the oldest stone-roofed buildings in the world, are found here.
Sinai Leopard, Panthera pardus jarvisi, may still be extant in the protectorate. Black Eagle, Aquila verreauxii, breeds here and possibly the rare Lammergeyer, Gypaetus barbatus. Twenty-four species of reptiles and up to 480 species of plants are also found in .




The Taba Heights Salt Cave is a newly man made cave made entirely of salt brought from Siwa Oasis and the Dead Sea. Charged with iodine, bromine, magnesium, iron, calcium, sodium and potassium, the salt cave is the first natural healing centre in Egypt. The exceptional microclimate created by a ceiling that has gorgeous salt stalactites and a floor covered with salt crystals revitalises you strength and beauty while colour schemes and lighting designed by colour therapy experts creates a natural calming of the senses.
